Once you make the decision to open a profitable daycare, you will need to make sure you have all the necessary equipment and accessories. Starting a daycare can be the best financial move you've ever made, but only if you do things right. That's why you should read this article and check that you have all these pieces of equipment and accessories for your day care center.

Here are 5 "must have" pieces of equipment for your day care:

1. First aid kit - Kids have a tendency to fall down, to scrape their knees, to run into things, basically to hurt themselves. You need to be prepared. You're not supposed to be a heart surgeon, not even a certified nurse, but you do need to be able to apply a band-aid or some iodine when one of the kids in your daycare hurts himself or herself.

2. Photos of everyone who can pick the kids up - This is very important. When the day is over and people come to pick up the kids, you need to know who has the right to do so. You must have the photo and name of everyone who can pick up a child before you allow that child to attend your daycare. It is not even safe to rely on the child. For instance, if the child's father comes to pick him up, the child will go with him gladly, but the father and mother may be divorced. Perhaps the father doesn't have visitation rights. Rely on photographs only.

3. Sleeping mats - children take naps during the day. In many states, this piece of equipment is required. It's also for your benefit, because it gives you a break in the middle of the day. Make sure that what you buy complies with your state's regulations.

4. Toys - You must have toys for the children to play with. Buy a variety of toys so that each child has something to play with.

5. Children's books - Children love to be read to and it's also the best way to get them to take an afternoon nap. Be sure to have an assortment of books so the children won't get bored.

Before you start your daycare make sure that you have all these pieces of equipment. Once you have children, make sure to have the photos of people who are allowed to pick them up.
